Halsey Announces New Single

Halsey has revealed a brand-new single titled “Safeword” – check out the teaser clip below.

The upcoming track will follow her fifth and final studio album, The Great Impersonator, which debuted in October of last year.

Teaser and Release Details

Last night (February 24), Halsey shared a 13-second clip from the music video for “Safeword.” In the footage, the artist can be seen donning a leather jacket, black-silver underwear, and matching boots with a high heel.

In a bold display of dominance, she places her leg on the throat of a man wearing a leather mask. “You are not the boss of me!” she screams before the screen transitions to reveal the title of the song, “Safeword.”

The soundtrack features edgy, rocky guitar instrumentals.

According to Halsey’s announcement, both the “Safeword” single and its music video will be available at 5 PM Greenwich time this Thursday (February 27). Be sure to watch the announcement message and video above.

In a recent interaction with a fan on X/Twitter, Halsey mentioned that she would perform several new songs during her 2025 tour for her last album in North America. “And even the one I’m releasing next week,” she hinted, referring to “Safeword.”

Another follower prompted the artist to describe the upcoming single in one word. Halsey simply replied: “Obedience.” Check the tweets below:

The NME awarded a glowing five-star review to The Great Impersonator, noting: “Looking back at her recent catalog, ‘maniacal’ showcases more stylistic diversity, with ‘If I can’t love, I want the power to’ showcasing greater ambition.”

The album secured the 39th spot on NME‘s list of the 50 best albums of 2024, with the single “Lonely Is Muse” earning a position in the “50 best songs of the year.”
