Details on the Upcoming Album

The news about the long-awaited album first broke last night (April 23), when the trio—Alan, Daniel, and Esta Haim—took the stage at The Bellwether for their first full concert since September 2023.

During the performance, they announced their fourth album, I Quit. This will serve as a follow-up to 2020’s “Women in Music, III” and will see them reunite with the producer Batmanlius (known for his work with Vampire Weekend and Clairo).

Set for release on June 20 through Polydor, the group has already shared new tracks, including “Everyone is Trying to Understand Me” and “Relations”. They’ve now debuted another single titled “Down to Make Mistakes.”

With an empowering sense of confidence, the song serves as a powerful ode to self-preservation and prioritization. “No need you understand, don’t know if you can” delivers a poignant message before concluding with: “Red lights stand in front, but I continue to go.

Live Performances and Music Video

The group first teased the new single earlier this week on social media, stating: “It will be a fun week. Our next single ‘Down to Be’ will be out soon.”

In addition to confirming that the official music video will drop tomorrow (April 25), Haim shared the official cover for the track, which features a paparazzi photograph from 2004 of Jared Leto checking his phone while kissing Scarlett Johansson.

This continues the theme of their recent covers, which pay homage to Nicole Kidman’s roles and reference religious imagery of Kate Moss.

Despite the single officially launching today, the trio debuted it live at the Bellwether show last night, along with another new track named Blood on the Street, featuring guest Addison Rae.

The upcoming video for “Download to Be in Truehh” will be released tomorrow at 16:00, featuring Percy Jackson and The Perks of Being a Wallflower actor Logan Lerman.

While the album won’t be released until June 20, the group has already revealed more details, including a track that may sample George Michael’s 90s anthem, which has yet to be cleared.

Titled “Gone”, the lead song reflects a sense of clarity after turmoil. The album will also include a track called “Take Me Back.”

In a recent interview with i-D, Alan mentioned that the upcoming record is “the closest we’ve come to the sound we’ve always wanted,” describing the process as “a completely different experience.”

Today, Haim also unveiled the album cover, featuring the three of them, photographed by Paul Thomas Anderson. This collaboration comes after Anderson worked with Alana on the hit film Licorice Pizza, released in 2021, where she played the lead role. Check it out above.
