The Hives Return with New Album and Tour

“I think that“ enough ”was chosen as one, very early, when there were demonstrations, because our manager thought that he would sell tickets for concerts,” the frontman told us. “They wanted to release this first because he has a big riff, and this is the perfect pace for the crowd to jump up and down. Recording Process and Collaborations
“Hives of the HIVES Forever forever” were recorded between Yung Lean/Year0001 and Riksmixningsverket Studios in Stockholm-senior employee Pell Hannerfeld (Viagra-Malchiki, Jung Lin, Elvira) -a also to Malibu with co-author from “Boot” from Beastie Boys. NME: Hello, Pelle. The last time we said, you were going to go on stage in London, supporting the Arctic monkeys. How did this tour go? Was there any concern about being fucking hives and blowing a headliner from the stage?
Pell Almkvist: “I mean that this is not quite anxiety. We are different enough so that we both can defeat the Raznaya! This is what we were there for. They are smart people, these Arctic monkeys. I think that (with the support of us) there was also partly because there was some public opinion that their recent albums were not punk. tour.
What is it to be in the hives in 2025? From the blowing of Glastonbury, widely opened to the “death of Randy Fitzimons”, having received so much goodwill?

What made you return to the studio so fast for the “hive forever forever hives”?
“We owe it to ourselves. After more than 10 years, we were overdue for great music for the recording. We did not want to talk about this when we released the “death of Randy Fitzimons”, but some of these songs already existed. We seemed to know that another album would come, but we did not want to talk about it and destroyed the latter. We kept it secret.
“We are in a great place. We never had an “impulse” in our career. It has always been similar to “making an album, a tour for three years, forget who you are for one year, start everything in terms of view.” Now we are experimenting with an impulse, so we will see if this works to catapult us in stadiums or something like that! ”
How would you describe the nature of this record and what distinguishes it from the Death of Randy Fitzimons?
“Well, at the planning stages, we thought: “Hive Arena – what will it look like? »We toured Rolling Stones and AC/DC and the like.
“You start a record, and each song really differs from each other, there is a ballad of the soul, Synth pop-but when you all finished, it just sounds like hives. We ended it only on Thursday, so I am too close to her to truly know, but it seems that the adult sister “Death of Randy Fitzimons” we thought that he would be more polished, but he is still raw.
What does Mike D bring on the table?
“We started making a record with Pelle Gunnerfeldt, with which we worked within 25 years since our first album. He is amazing, and the best in Sweden in the recording of everyone in the group at the same time. Recently he graduated from Viagra and Jung Lin, but he began when we were approaching.
“We wrote down with him that it was so familiar that it was almost impossible to worry about anything except songs. We threw Mike D into the mix because when we grew up, there was nothing more cooler than the sound boys.
Beastie boys, like hives, have not been very humbled …
“Yes, and Beastie Boys is our favorite sounding music: it sounds massively, but it really rude. This is what we have always been involved in. ”
To what extent did Josh Homm participate in the recording?
“It seems more in advisory quality. We talked about songs like a bunch. We were not in the studio together, but we are friends, so we met when we are in Los -Angeles or something like that. We would play songs for him, and he would give him some tips. ”
Each album from The Hives comes with a new black -white shape. What are you going for this time?
“For the first time, we do not wear the same uniform from the recording on stage, but these are large cloaks and crows! We made copies of the crown of St. Edward from a woman in India; This is the crown that Prince Charles wore for his coronation. In the same way, this is the most cult crown, so we made copies of this with large capes from Rabbit Fur and Velvet. ”
You cannot wear it on stage …
“This is a little complicated. The crown is so heavy and it hurts to wear it, so you seemed to begin to think that this is the reason why the kings kill their subjects. If you wear this thing, you will annoy all the time. ”
How are you doing with Viagra boys? You guys have reached a truce?
“This is happening there -this is between love and hatred. This is a temporary truce, but we will see. We both play in a large arena in Stockholm later this fall, so perhaps we will have to dig an ax at that time. We wear a crown, obviously, we are better. ”
Do you think you could ride an impulse and soon make another Hive album?
“This is too early to say. It is quite difficult to make one record, not to mention two. Third? I'm tired, just thinking about it. I'm not going to exclude her.
