New Single Release
Gordy has unveiled a fresh single titled “Paul Slicing”, which is part of their forthcoming album “Like Palestine”.
Exploring Relationships Through Music
This track, created in collaboration with Brad Cook (known for his work with Bon Iver, Snail Mail, and Jensen McRae), delves into the complexities of moving on from relationships tied to earlier versions of oneself. Initially crafted in Phoenix’s Central Park in Sydney using a collection of instrumental loops, the song was later finished in the western United States with Cook, who is also connected to Sophie Patyte. Gordy first crossed paths with Patyte during the “Big Red Car of Justin Vernon” project.
“Hand Floor” encapsulates the theme of growing pains and the gradual separations that occur between individuals. Patyte shares, “I worked on this song in North Carolina with my friend Brad Cook. Matt McCugan joined us on drums, and together we filled in the rest. It was one of those tracks that seemed to evolve with every idea, and collaborating was a true joy, despite some of my silly distractions.”
