Background on Fyre Festival
In 2017, Fyre Festival captivated the world, not for its success but for the disastrous planning and experiences endured by attendees, leading to numerous lawsuits and documentaries.
After years of speculation, Billy McFarland, who has hinted at the festival’s return this year, finally confirmed it through social media, revealing essential details about Fyre Festival’s comeback.
Confirming their new endeavor, McFarland and Fyre Festival, branded as Fyre Festival 2, announced that the second edition will take place from May 30 to June 2 in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Tickets are available now, priced from $1,400 to $4,400 for basic packages and up to an astounding $1.1 million for an eight-person suite.
The festival is touted as “a three-day escape to the Mexican Caribbean, where you will explore by day with your favorite artists and unite at night to celebrate with music.”
Fyre Festival 2 also promises “adventures led by international and local talents, bringing guests on excursions during the day and hosting intimate beach performances at night.”
As for the musical acts expected to perform at Fyre Festival 2, the lineup has yet to be revealed. The original Fyre Festival in 2017 was reported to feature performances from artists such as Blink-182, Major Lazer, Disclosure, Migos, Pusha T, Tyga, and many more.
In a statement accompanying the Fyre Festival 2 announcement, disgraced founder Billy McFarland remarked: “I know many might think I’m crazy for attempting this again. But I believe it would be even crazier not to. After many years of reflection and now careful planning, we have incredible plans for Fyre 2 with a new team. Adventure seekers willing to trust this vision will help write history. Thank you to my partners for this second chance.”
In August 2023, preliminary tickets for Fyre Festival 2 sold out quickly, even though the festival lacked a lineup, venue, or officially announced dates.

Originally conceived by McFarland eight years ago, the Fyre Festival was intended to span two days on a private Bahamas beach but quickly devolved into chaos, with fraudulent plans, inadequate accommodations, and severe food and water shortages. The downfall was immortalized in the now-iconic Netflix documentary Fyre.
McFarland was released from prison in 2022 after being convicted on multiple counts of fraud.
