Fundraiser Launched for Empress and Family

A fundraiser has been initiated for the Empress and her family following the devastation of their home in the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.

Wildfires Cause Widespread Damage

The residence of Empress Loreli Rodriguez (real name) and her mother Reina was among the many properties affected by the flames that erupted in Los Angeles on Tuesday (January 7).

The fires rapidly escalated into five separate blazes, forcing more than 180,000 residents to evacuate. As of this moment, there have been 10 confirmed fatalities. NBC News.

Now, fundraising efforts are underway to support the musician and her family, who have “lost everything”.

“We are reaching out for your assistance in raising funds for our dear friend Loreli Rodriguez and her mother Reyna after they lost their home in Altadena two nights ago,” the GoFundMe description states. “Some of you may recognize Loreli as the Empress. She is a musician from our Los Angeles community and a daughter and sister to a family that has now lost it all.”

“Reyna’s home, which served as the family’s hub for decades, was tragically consumed by the Altadena fire. Now, four family members are left without a place to stay,” the announcement continued. “With no time to gather their belongings, the family needs clothing, bedding, food, temporary shelter, and financial support to rebuild.”

“Loreli has selflessly contributed to the community with her kindness, music, and art over the years, as has Reina. Reyna, known as ‘Latina Knowles’ on Instagram, has been creating Loreli’s stage outfits for years, all designed and crafted in the home they cherished. Please help us raise these funds and show this family the love and support they have consistently provided to others.”

As of now, the fundraiser has garnered 632 donations, raising $48,369 (£39,267) of the sought $65,000 (£53,290). Click here for more details or to contribute. The Empress also shared the fundraiser on social media, along with images of the damage (above).

Empress Of’s most recent album, “For Your Consideration,” was released in 2023, marking her fourth studio effort following 2020’s “I’m Your Empress Of” and 2022’s “Save Me” EP, featuring the single “Kiss Me” with Rina Sawayama.

Others affected by the wildfires include comedian and actor Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes, Oscar winner James Woods, and Star Wars icon Mark Hamill.

Heroes and This Is Us actor Milo Ventimiglia broke down during a live interview discussing the destruction of his home, while a fundraiser for DIIV frontman Zachary Cole Smith was organized after his house was destroyed in a fire.

According to the GoFundMe campaign, created by their friend Lindsey Hartman, Smith and his family are safe, but they lost their home to the flames.

On January 9, Paris Hilton recounted witnessing her home ablaze on television, while Hollywood legend Sir Anthony Hopkins also recently became one of the latest victims of the fires.

Numerous artists and actors have expressed their sorrow regarding the bushfires and extended their support, including Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande.

Earlier today (January 10), law enforcement arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for setting fire to Kennett in the West Hills area while the blazes continued to rage.
