Fundraiser for Former Pendulum Member
A fundraiser has been initiated to assist former Pendulum member Ben Wehrs following his cancer diagnosis.
The drum and bass MC, whose real name is Benjamin Mount, was diagnosed with acute monoblastic leukemia four months ago and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. He has also faced several other health challenges.
In response to this news, his brother Jeremy launched a new GoFundMe page aiming to raise £20,000 to help cover the financial burdens facing Benjamin. This encompasses medical expenses, daily living costs, childcare, mobility assistance, and nursing care.
Health Challenges and Support
On the GoFundMe page, Jeremy details the circumstances surrounding his brother’s diagnosis and the struggles the MC has endured since then. He reveals that Benjamin was first hospitalized last August with suspected tuberculosis, which ultimately was diagnosed as a “fast-growing, antibiotic-resistant” superbug that resulted in a lung abscess.
Jeremy explained that his brother was readmitted to the hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma for six weeks. At times, it seemed uncertain that he would survive. “We were told several times that he was unlikely to make it. Each new day brought additional complications: sepsis, bleeding, hematoma, heart attack, another procedure, another tube,” his brother documented.
The fundraising page also revealed that Benjamin received his acute leukemia diagnosis merely three weeks after his discharge from the intensive care unit, necessitating immediate chemotherapy.
“Finally, after more than four months in the hospital, Ben seems poised to return home soon. However, he has lost half his body weight… he is still dealing with an abscess in only one lung, he cannot walk yet, and he is presently undergoing his second round of chemotherapy,” Jeremy shared in the description.
“The path to recovery will be lengthy, and Ben will require substantial care and support to help restore him to the amazing person we all cherish,” he concluded, noting that the artist has two daughters, aged two and ten months.
“We established this fund to assist Ben’s family in managing a variety of everyday and urgent financial needs. Please consider contributing whatever you can… Ben doesn't want this to be a charity, but at this moment, we need to reach out to everyone who knows him and wishes to help during this incredibly challenging and stressful period.”

In an initial post, Jeremy revealed that his brother has been working on new music since regaining consciousness from his coma. While it remains in the early stages, Benjamin intends to release it in due course.
The artist’s brother also acknowledged another update on the page, expressing gratitude for the generosity and contributions received. “The response has been phenomenal; many thanks to everyone worldwide who has come forward. This means so much to all of us,” he noted, while also sharing a new video from Benjamin. You can check it out above.
Last year, Pendulum’s performance was recognized as one of NME“The most magical moments of Reading and Leeds 2024.” Just before their appearance at the legendary double festival, frontman Rob Swire discussed their recent comeback single “Napalm”, featuring Joey Valance and Bra.
