Former GUNS N’ Roses Drummer Frank Ferrer Speaks Out on Feeling “Disappointment” After Leaving the Band

Frank Ferrer Reflects on Departure

Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Frank Ferrer expressed his “disappointment” regarding his recent exit from the group.

A Notable Tenure

Earlier this week, Ferrer, who had the longest tenure in the band, joined in 2006 to replace Brian Mantle and remained for 19 years.

In a statement shared on social media, he referred to his departure as a “friendly way out” while the group thanked him for his “friendship, creativity, and strong presence over the past 19 years.”

“Frank first joined GNR during a show in June 2006,” he continued, “helping to enhance the rhythm section during subsequent tours, including their recent performances with the reunited trio of Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan.”

Later that day, the band took to social media again to announce that Isaac Carpenter from Awolnation would be joining as Ferrer’s replacement. Carpenter has been with Awolnation since 2014 and has also collaborated with bassist Duff McKagan, Adam Lambert, and A Perfect Circle.

Now, Ferrer has updated fans on Instagram, where he expressed gratitude for his time with the band and confusion over its conclusion.

“The outpouring of love I felt from the incredible fans of Guns N’ Roses and my peers over the last 24 hours was enormous,” he shared, tagging the band’s official page.

“I will always hold great gratitude and love for AXL and the group, while also feeling disappointment that this chapter has ended.”

“These 19 years were incredible. Guns N’ Roses provided me with memories and experiences that changed my life. Thank you to the leadership, team, and fans for the memories I will cherish for my lifetime. I hope to see all of you soon!”

His departure comes just a few months after Matt Sorum publicly shared his thoughts on being excluded from the band’s reunion, acknowledging he is now “much larger in the world” than he was at the start.

Additionally, GNR has recently been added to the lineup for Black Sabbath’s final concert. The legendary heavy metal group will perform one last time at Villa Park in Birmingham on Saturday, July 5.
