For Those I Love Returns with ‘Sorrows’: Their First New Music Since 2021

New Single Release

For those whom I love, I shared the new single, “Pereu”, marking his first release after their debut album of 2021, sharing the same name.

Exploring Urban Life

The project, led by Dublin artist David Balf, delves into themes of urban movement and personal reflections in the new track.

“When I wrote about sorrow, it felt like I was negotiating with myself. This was one of the first songs I penned for myself, while still grappling with the emotions and thoughts of my closest friends,” Balf explains. “Essentially, ‘Pull’ addresses the city’s pace, the rush of life, and the decisions you make to remain.”

Balf elaborates on the challenges of life in Dublin: “I’m uncertain if it’s feasible to remain and thrive in Dublin, which offers a certain comfort, without complicating the city’s long-term livability.”

Reflecting on the gap between releases, he expresses: “There was a period when I felt I had nothing to contribute, as I wasn’t invested in the space to create. Then one day, everything began to flow.”

While his debut album was centered around childhood friend and music officer Paul Kerran, who passed away in 2018, the upcoming record takes a more personal turn. The new material stems from a collection of poems crafted in Balf’s home studio, where he arranged instrumentation to complement his evolving narrative.
