Fontenses Cancels South American Tour Dates

Fontenses, the District of Colombia, announced the cancellation of several tour dates across South America due to an injury sustained by frontman Grian Chatten – read on for more details.

Injury Announcement

Today (March 18), Chatten posted a message on the official account of the group on Instagram to share a statement via Instagram Stories where he revealed that he has suffered from a herniated disc and requires “urgent medical care.” Consequently, the next five dates for Fontenses in the District of Columbia have been canceled.

Chatten expressed: “I am devastated to announce that due to a herniated disc, we must cancel our show in Mexico tomorrow night and our upcoming performances in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia.”

He continued: “I was really looking forward to playing in these beautiful countries for many years, and it truly pains me to be in Mexico City and not be able to perform. However, I have been advised that I urgently need medical treatment. We are incredibly grateful for your support, and from the bottom of my heart, I am sorry that I can’t play for you.”

As of now, these shows appear to be completely canceled, with no indication that the group is contemplating rescheduling the five concerts for future dates.

The cancellation of the South American tour dates follows closely on the heels of the band’s recent tour in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand earlier this month. The group is set to embark on their own North American tour in mid-April, though it remains unclear whether Grian Chatten’s injury will impact those scheduled dates.

Last month, the group released a new single titled “It’s Amazing to Be Young” NME, inspired by the experience of being “in the presence of a newborn child” – the child of guitarist Carlos O’Connell. This song was written around the same time as their recent album “Romance” but was originally left off as they aimed to save it for their LP “Briefly.” “It’s Amazing to Be Young” is set for release on vinyl alongside the track “Before You Forget” later this year.
