Flora from Kansas Unveils Dreamy Indie-Pop Single “Wait for You”

New Single Release

Flora from Kansas has unveiled her latest single, “Wait for You”, which will be the final track from her highly anticipated debut EP titled “Homeick”.

Creative Process

The 17-year-old artist recorded the entire EP in the comfort of her home, utilizing different rooms, including bedrooms, a basement, and a piano in the living room. The tracks were mixed by Ali Canta, who is well-known for collaborating with Oldos Harding and a football mother.

“Wait for you” tells a story about searching for a future partner, primarily focusing on romantic narratives,” Flora explains. “Musically, this track leans more towards rock compared to my previous releases. Interestingly, I got to drive a vintage Camaro for the music video shoot! It was such a blast!”

Thematic Elements

The EP features a mix of songs that delve into themes such as teenage anxiety, the struggles of being a middle child, and new experiences in high school, along with a cover of Alvvays’ “Dreams Tonite”. Flora began her musical journey five years ago, honing her craft during her time off. “My father and I often strolled to a nearby gas station, where we discussed our lives. That’s when we started to talk about creating music together just for the joy of it,” she shares.

Family plays a crucial role in her artistic development. “My dad, my brother, and I all have our own small recording studios in our rooms, allowing us to move around the house from one workspace to another.”
