Finn Wolfhard Unveils “Trailers After Dark” from His Upcoming Debut Solo Album

New Single Release

Finn Wolfhard has unveiled a new single titled 'Trailers After the Onset of Darkness'. This release serves as a sneak peek of his debut solo album “Happy Birthday,” set to be launched on June 6 through AWAL.

Details of the Track

The new song features a somber acoustic guitar and layered vocals, with poignant lyrics like, “Oh, my dear, do not stop loving me.” The music video for the track was directed by Marcus Mazzalla.

“Happy Birthday” represents Wolfhard’s first solo venture following his time with the bands Calpurnia and Theabreys. This nine-track album emerged from a personal goal to compose 50 songs by the close of 2022.

“I realized I wrote many cringeworthy things, but some songs I was genuinely proud of were set aside for Obri. I began to notice overarching themes in many other songs tied to my identity, anxiety, nostalgia, childhood, and loneliness; all of these elements form a larger narrative. I was certain I wanted to create an album, even if I wasn’t sure about the songs yet.

“If I listen to this album in ten years, I hope it serves as the beginning of a distinct style and voice,” he stated. “It is intriguing to navigate this industry as a young adult, as I’m still only 22 years old, and everything starts to take shape at different stages of life. I hope that when I reflect on this project, I will be proud of the melodies and lyrics. I want to embrace who I was at that time. It’s important that I expressed how I felt and created an album about it before moving on to a new chapter in my life.
