Faithfull has been closely associated with the Rolling Stones since arriving in London as a teenager during the swinging London era. “How Tears Pass” was her first hit, charting in the top ten in the UK in 1964 at just 17 years old, leading to a rapid rise in popularity in the United States.

Although she married artist John Dunbar in 1965 and had a son with him, she left him for Jagger in 1966, entering a highly publicized relationship with the frontman that lasted for four years. During this time, she was often referred to as the group’s “muse” and is believed to have inspired classic tracks like “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Wild Horses.”

“Negative Capability” was among the many artistic ventures Faithfull pursued in her later years. After a near-fatal battle with Covid-19 in 2020, she began working on the album “She Goes in Beauty,” also with Ellis, which features poetry from Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, and Alfred Lord Tennyson. This album would turn out to be her final studio release.

Since the announcement of her death, tributes have poured in to honor her legacy here.
