Announced Inductees for 2025

Yesterday (April 28), the Rock Hall announced this year’s inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which includes prominent acts like The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, and Soundgarden. In contrast, fans were disappointed to learn that Phish would not be inducted this year despite a strong showing in the fan voting.

Phish garnered an impressive 330,000 votes in the fan ballot, leading against Bad Company, who received 281,000 votes. Despite this, Bad Company was among those announced for induction in November.

Outpouring of Fan Reactions

While Phish dominated the fan survey, there are only 1,200 points in the Rock Hall’s qualifying committee from artists and industry professionals. Following the announcement, fans flooded social media to express their dissatisfaction. A fan remarked, “Phish, the fan-voted winner, is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s outrageous.”

Another fan expressed, “The courage of @RockHall to deny @phish their rightful place while showcasing their famous hot dog in the lobby is beyond understanding.”

Fans also commented on the infamous Phish hot dog exhibit in the Rock Hall, with one saying, “The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be ashamed, especially if they aren’t inducting Phish.”

Others expressed their frustration with the decision, labeling it as “bullshit,” an “absolute joke,” and “a mockery of the entire institution.”

As the discussion continues, many fans voiced that the Rock Hall’s decisions only prove its lack of understanding of the band’s influence and significance. Some highlighted the absurdity of inducting acts over Phish, calling it poor judgement from the Rock Hall.

As for Phish, they recently completed their US Tour with a show at the Hollywood Bowl on April 27. The band’s vocal supporter, Drew Carey, who previously drew a comparison between Phish and U2, said: “It blew me away how great it was. I honestly felt like calling U2 to ask for money.”
