Details About the New Track
This track is a reimagining of Morrison’s “Gods,” which was originally featured on his 2015 album “God Community Hole.” It includes contributions from the Black Sabbath frontman himself on the original and has been reinterpreted with a 61-piece orchestra along with new guitar elements from Steve Stevens.
Ozzi shared with Kerrang! about the new track: “Billy and I wrote ‘Gods of Rock N Roll’ together in a hotel room during my South America tour around 10 years ago. In this reworked version, it finally has all the bells and whistles. I told Billy we needed an orchestra and a choir, but it took him 10 years to listen to me.”
Morrison added: “Ozzi and I breathed new life into what we’ve always felt was a monumental song. ‘The Gods of Rock and Roll’ was written a decade ago in a hotel room in South America, but with this remake, we both believe we’ve finally created the emotional ballad it was always meant to be.”

The refreshed version of the song will feature on the Deluxe Edition of the upcoming 2024 album “The Morrison Project,” set for release next Friday (February 21).
The track has recently entered Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart just ahead of its release. This followed Morrison’s premiere of the new version on SiriusXM’s Ozzi’s Boneyard channel last month, leading to airplay on various radio stations and climbing to number 26 on the main Rock Airplay charts.
This single launch occurred just days after Osbourne announced details for Black Sabbath’s final show, taking place in Birmingham on July 5. Several notable opening acts and special guests, including Metallica, Killer, Pantera, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, recent Grammy winner Gojira, and more will perform at the hometown event.
In a conversation with NME at Villa Park shortly after the final Black Sabbath concert announcement, Ozzi’s wife Sharon stated: “He wants to thank everyone. He hasn’t had such an opportunity since his illness, but now he has a chance.”
Tickets for the concert went on sale this morning (February 14), leaving many fans disappointed in their attempts to secure tickets. Some also criticized the steep ticket prices, despite proceeds being directed towards Parkinson’s treatment, the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, and Acorn Children’s Hospital.
Conversely, others were pleased to have managed to secure their tickets for the show.
