Currently, the artist has begun a month-long residency on Radio NTS. During this residency, she shared “Perverts Meditation,” an hour-long track from her recent EP on January 25.

Exploring Darker Themes

“Perverts Meditation” marks a progression towards more unsettling and darker soundscapes, where Kane offers meandering reflections on death layered over haunting synths. You can check this here.

Additionally, she revealed demos of the song “Perverts” on Soundcloud, featuring early versions of the EP’s single “Punish” and the unreleased piano ballad “Make Room In Hell.” Listen below:

Controversial Remarks and Backlash

Upon its release earlier this month, The Perverts garnered a four-star review from NME, stating: “Casual fans may not last three minutes. But for those willing to embrace discomfort, Perverts reveals hidden depths, just as the eyes take time to adjust to low light. What it reflects is in the eye of the beholder.”

This year, Kane also made headlines by sharing her views on the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was shot outside a Manhattan hotel in December. The manhunt that followed led to the arrest of Luigi Mangione, who had a three-page manifesto criticizing the American health care system.

In a statement on January 10, Kane expressed her frustration with the system, stating that while she did not advocate for “reactionary” measures, violence could be a possible answer. “It’s simple,” she wrote. “You make them fear for their lives and hit them in the only place that hurts them, otherwise nothing will get done.” She captioned her Instagram post with the hashtag “KillMoreCEOs.” This sparked significant backlash, especially from conservatives. Fox News even called for a boycott of her music due to her “terrorist” and “depraved” remarks.

Earlier this week, she defended her comments in a Tumblr post, arguing that issues like the “corrupt” healthcare system and climate change are not limited to political lines, and her perspective on healthcare should not be considered a “woke liberal view.”
