Upcoming Album Release

The duo is set to release their collaborative album, titled “Who Believes in the Angels?” on April 4. They will perform tracks from this album the following day on the NBC show.

This marks John’s fourth appearance on SNL, with previous performances occurring in 1981, 1992, and 2011. Meanwhile, Black last appeared on the show in 2005 as part of the promotion for his upcoming film Minecraft: The Movie.

SNL has also revealed two additional musical guests: Oscar winner Anora will feature on March 29 alongside music guest Morgan Wallen. On April 12, Mad Men star Jon Hamm will promote the upcoming Apple TV+ series Your Friends and Neighbors with musical guest Lizzo.

Special Concert and Collaborations

John and Carlisle’s album features collaborations with iconic musicians, including Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pino Palladino (known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan, and David Gilmour), and Josh Klinghoffer (former member of Pearl Jam and Beck).

This album follows the 2021 release of “The Lockdown Sessions” and includes the Oscar-nominated song “Never Too Late,” created for the Disney+ documentary of the same name. Click here to pre-order the album.

They will also be performing a one-time concert at the London Palladium on March 26, which will be filmed for a CBS special to air on April 6, concurrently available on Paramount+.

During the concert, John and Brandy Carlisle will perform a mix of songs from their album and individual classics. They plan to reveal insights into their 20-year friendship, the journey behind their collaboration, and share intimate details from their creative process.

In other news, John commented this week that shows like X-Factor and American Idol can be detrimental for aspiring artists, suggesting they should “go and play in the pub” instead.
