Hogmanay Celebrations Canceled
Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh have been canceled due to expectations of “extreme weather” in the Scottish capital.
The annual event at Princes Street Gardens, which was set to feature Texas, has been called off as organizers responded to the Met Office’s yellow warning for wind and rain.
Public Safety Concerns
The Unique Assembly is managing the Hogmanay festival on behalf of Edinburgh City Council and stated that the decision was made with public safety in mind. They confirmed that all ticket holders would be contacted and given instructions on how to claim a refund.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to continue with the preparations necessary for the outdoor events in Edinburgh at Hogmanay due to the extreme weather and forecast conditions,” a Unique Assembly spokesperson remarked.
“Therefore, out of safety concerns, we, along with our event partners, have made the difficult decision to cancel all outdoor events. We understand this will be a huge disappointment for everyone hoping to celebrate Hogmanay in Edinburgh, and that people travel from all over the world to be here at Hogmanay House.”
