Duffy Hints at New Release Following Test Abduction Incident

Duffy Teases Music Comeback

Duffy has hinted at her return to the music scene with a new British garage remix of her iconic hit “Mercy,” following her previous experiences with abduction.

Excitement on TikTok

In a TikTok video shared by the account HQ Emotion, the Welsh singer shows off her lip-syncing skills to the remix of her 2008 track. This remix is a collaboration between Duffy and a group called E.Motion.

The caption of the clip stated: “Some of you asked if Duffy really makes a British garage remix with us … #Duffy #Newmusic #electronicMusic #UKGARAGE #DANCEMUMUSIC #REMIX,” teasing that the track will be released soon. As of now, an official release date has not been announced.

The new clip comes after Duffy, whose real name is Aimee Anne Duffy, opened up about her ten-year hiatus from music in 2020, revealing that she had been abducted and held hostage for several days during which she was drugged and assaulted.

Reflecting on her decision to withhold this information earlier, Duffy stated on social media at the time, “… In the last decade of thousands of days, I wished to feel the sun in my heart again; now, the sun is shining.”

“You wonder why I did not decide to use my voice to express my pain? I didn’t want to show the world sadness in my eyes. I questioned how I could sing from my heart if it was broken. And slowly, it is proving untrue.”

Duffy went on to encourage fans to speak openly about their personal struggles, expressing that she felt “released” after publicly sharing her painful experience.

In the same year, she also criticized Netflix, labeling them “irresponsible” for “glamorizing the brutal reality of sexual trafficking, abduction, and rape” in the film 365 Days.

Having signed her first deal in 2007, Duffy’s debut album “Rockferry” became the best-selling album in the UK in 2008. She followed up with her second album “Endlessly” in 2010. In 2020, she released the single “Something Beautiful” and later followed it up with “River in the Sky.”
