Dua Lipa’s Show in New Zealand
Last night (April 1) in New Zealand, the iconic single “Royals” was covered by the pop sensation.
Special Guests and Collaborations
Speaking at the Spark Arena in Auckland, the pop star revisited her debut single from 2013, which marked the start of her career. You can see the cover below.
This performance follows her covers of “I can’t get you out of my head” by Kylie Minogue, “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia, and “Hell to Hell” during her tour in Australia.
Last week, she also shared the stage with Kevin Parker from Tame Impala for a rendition of “The Less I Know, The Better” during her show in Sydney. Lipa and Parker have previously collaborated, as he was a key producer on her latest album “Radical Optimism”.

This isn’t the first time the duo has performed together; the pop star previously collaborated with Parker during her headline slot at last year’s Glastonbury Festival, featuring two duets from the 2015 Tame Impala discography.
Parker isn’t the only Australian artist to join Lipa; Wans Joy performed a cover of “Riptide” at one of her recent shows in Melbourne, and Troye Sivan joined for the duet “Rush”. She also covered the classic track “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS.

Additionally, she recently won a lawsuit that accused her of copying her hit song – “Levitating.” Back in 2022, the pop star was taken to court by the songwriters L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer, who claimed she plagiarized their songs “Wiggle and Jiggle All Night” and “Don Diablo” from the 1980s when creating “Levitating.”

The American judge Katherine Regiment ruled that the two songs by Brown and Linzer only shared general similarities with unprotected musical elements that had been previously used, such as those found in Mozart and the Bee Gees’ hit “Stayin’ Alive” from 1977.
