The punk group performed at MGM Music Hall last Sunday (March 16) over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, during which Casey called out a man in the crowd waving his hat and referred to him as “Make the Great.”
A Message to Fans
“If you are in a room full of people and you want to know who is in the cult … They kept a fucking hat all night to represent the president,” he said from the stage. “This is America! There are no kings here!”
He continued: “Do you feel, sir, we are going to play a song about our grandparents and about the people who fought the Nazis in the war … So if you could just shut up for five minutes.”

Casey later discussed the incident on Meidastouch Podkast, clarifying that his intention was not to “scold” their fans. “I really do not want to stop the show and turn it into a political rally,” he remarked. “But you know that I should call out hypocrisy when I see it, especially if it’s put in my face.”
Critique of Political Figures
In the same interview, Casey criticized Donald Trump’s close ally, Elon Musk. “He literally seems to be a villain from a film mixed with a guy who looks like a breakdown of the middle, and Donald Trump is just a clown,” he said, further claiming that Trump is a “Russian asset.”
At another recent show in Florida, Casey had an exchange with a Trump supporter dressed in a MAGA T-shirt, pointing out that it was made outside of the United States.
“If you lose the bet, we switch shirts, okay? If you win a bet, I will give you $100 and a shirt,” Casey challenged. As he checked the label of the shirt, the fan shouted: “Nicaragua!”
Dropkick Murphys recently performed at several shows in the UK in February. Their latest studio album, Okemah Rising, was released in 2023.
