Drake’s Lawyers Assert That Many Have Wrongfully Accused Kendrick Lamar of Pedophilia

Drake’s Claim on Kendrick Lamar’s Lyrics

The team of lawyers representing Drake asserted that “millions of people” interpreted Kendrick Lamar’s lyrics as direct allegations of pedophilia, which is part of an ongoing legal dispute involving a prominent music group.

Legal Action Against UMG

LLC Toronto Rapper’s Frozen Moments LLC initiated a lawsuit against UMG in New York last November, alleging that the publisher had “artificially bloated” flows for Lamar’s track “not similar to us,” among various other grievances.

In response, UMG filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing that Drake was taking legal action because he “lost the Rap -Bitwu.” The label contended that “instead of accepting the loss as a rap artist, which he often claims to be,” Drake “sued his own label in a misguided effort to mend his wounds.”

In their latest reply, Drake’s lawyers contested UMG’s position, stating that listeners do not perceive the content of the track as factual statements. “UMG entirely overlooks the claims that millions of individuals globally understood the defamatory material as actual statements accusing the plaintiff of being a pedophile,” his lawyers asserted.

The legal team further added: “UMG also disregards the assertion that the statements in question (and their surrounding context) suggested that the claims were based on unresolved evidence, which the audience comprehended in a similar light.”

The track in question was featured during Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl Lix LEALME Show in February, which also showcased appearances by SZA, Serena Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson.
