Drake Once Again Advocates for Tory Lanez’s Prison Release: “Free T”

Drake Calls for Tory Lanez’s Release

Drake has once again urged for the release of Tory Lanez, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in both legs.

Lanez was found guilty in December 2022 on three felony charges related to the 2020 shooting and began serving his sentence the following August.

He was convicted of all three charges: one count of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, one count of carrying a concealed, loaded, and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and one count of discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Despite maintaining his innocence while incarcerated, Lanez was granted the chance to appeal the ruling in July.

Support for a Friend

Earlier this year, Drake posted a photo of Lanez on his Instagram Story with the caption “3 you,” though he did not expand on his remarks.

Recently, the Canadian artist reiterated his call for Lanez’s release during his Drizzmas Giveaway broadcast with Adin Ross on Boxing Day (December 26).

During the same broadcast, Drake expressed his enthusiasm for Young Thug’s new music following his release from prison last month after pleading guilty to gang, drug, and weapons charges, bringing an end to the longest criminal trial in Georgia’s history.

“Thanks Thug, I can’t wait for Thug to fall. Drake and Thugger, of course,” he remarked about their potential collaboration. “W, Thug, welcome home!”

He then expressed support for Lanez, stating, “Free T, man. Free T. I know they don’t want to hear me say it. Free T.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s Legal Action

This comes shortly after Megan Thee Stallion sought a restraining order against Lanez due to alleged harassment from third-party surrogates.

According to Meghan in a statement to the Associated Press, Lanez stalked her from prison via these third-party representatives. The petition claimed that prison call logs from the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi indicated Lanez’s coordination of attacks on her.

The petition also alleged that multiple bloggers acting on Lanez’s behalf made false online statements regarding the case, including claims about the missing gun and bullet fragments.

A hearing for this restraining order is set for January 9.
