Drake Releases New Freestyle
Drake has shared a new freestyle track, “Fighting Irish.” Check it out below.
Details on the Release
The song, his first of the year, was released in the midst of a 20-minute YouTube video from producer Conductor Williams.
Williams, who shared the video as part of his ongoing “Signature Blends” series, posted an Instagram update encouraging fans to watch it, though he later deleted the post. The two previously collaborated on Drake’s 2023 album For All The Dogs.
The world fell in love with these stunts, even my brothers got tickets/Seemed like they enjoyed every minute, just know this shit is personal to us and it wasn’t just business, Drake raps on the track.
There is speculation among fans that the track alludes to his well-known feud with Kendrick Lamar, which was highlighted in the summer of 2024. Behavioral pattern analysis is a little fishy/Niggas never been happy for me when I hit numbers/Or when I break world records while I’m eating Guinness/Or when I get my fifth Maybach ’cause it’s a different color. he continues.
Drake also mentions giving someone a watch, which some fans speculate is a nod to basketball player LeBron James, who has Drake’s tattoo but seemingly sided with Lamar during the feud. According to James, the song title “Fighting Irish” was also the name of his high school basketball team. Difficult.
Check it out and some fan reactions below.
“Remember, we exchanged watches: I gave you the Arabic dial, and you gave me the numbered version.”

Drake saw that LeBron actually knew the lyrics to Kendrick’s new album and that was his last straw😭 https://t.co/VpBLGwj1k1

Today shows why Drake doesn’t really deploy. Leaked freestyle from a producer, not even himself, is getting so much attention

Throughout the course of the Drake-Lamar feud, the two rappers exchanged several diss tracks, often responding to each other’s jabs within days or even hours.
Additionally, Drake recently filed two lawsuits against Universal Music Group concerning “Not Like Us.” The first complaint, lodged in New York, claims that UMG “artificially inflated” streaming figures and engaged in undisclosed “pay-to-play” schemes.
The second lawsuit, filed in Texas, alleges defamation and states that UMG “knowingly” approved the release of “Not Like Us” despite lyrics from Kendrick Lamar’s songs that label Drake as a “pedophile.”
Kendrick Lamar’s team has yet to respond to NME seeking comment.
In the meantime, UMG reacted to both lawsuits, stating: “The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine the credibility of any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We apply the highest ethical standards in our marketing and advertising campaigns. No amount of flimsy and absurd legal arguments in this preliminary statement will be able to disguise the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.”
In other news, during late November, Drake announced details about his upcoming album with PARTYNEXTDOOR. The rapper had first revealed information about the album in August: “On behalf of me and Party, we’re working on something for you,” he told fans towards the end of the concert. “So summer is over, you do what you need to do. I know all of you girls are outside. When it gets a little cooler, there’s a PARTYNEXTDOOR and DRAKE album waiting for you.”
He added, “The Me and Party album is 75 percent done at this point. Give credit to PX’s cooking. The album sounds incredible… This album is good; it’s the sound people know and love us for.”
Next month (February), Drake will head to Australia and New Zealand for his first tour there in eight years.
