Comments on the 2025 Lineup
Speaking about the new additions in the press release, Senior Booker Kamran Khak stated, “We are truly proud of the diversity in our lineup this year.” He added, “We believe there’s something to suit everyone’s taste, and of course, there are more surprises to come. We can’t wait for June!”
Previously speaking with NME about the 2025 lineup, festival boss Andy Copping emphasized the importance of providing a platform for emerging talent. “I’ve always wanted to do this, and you can see it reflected in how we are developing other stages, like the Doghouse and Avalanche stages.”
“We are also focused on the smaller acts on the lineup and the bigger stages. For us, it’s about giving bands the chance to grow. We have the platform and want to send a message to these groups saying ‘come and play.’ We believe in you, and you have a great opportunity here. Fortunately, most of these bands rise to the occasion and deliver.”
Last year, Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, and other acts delivered a brilliant festival experience, earning a four-star rating from NME. The review noted, “At first glance, Download 2024 appeared overshadowed by several factors that could signal its decline, including festival boss Andy Copping admitting it was the ‘most difficult year’ to assemble the lineup. Despite the challenges, the festival provided one of the most promising lineups recently and demonstrated its position as a key event in creating opportunities for the next generation of headliners.”
In 2022, NME spoke with Copping about Download’s plans to enhance gender diversity within the festival. He remarked, “This is what we have been striving for over the years, and while we have a long way to go, it’s encouraging to see so many talented artists. I hope we can provide them with a platform. We are far ahead from where we once were, but there’s still room for improvement, and we are committed to making progress year after year.”
