“Night after Night” was performed live in 2023, and since then, the Amazons have included it in many shows. The band took to Instagram to announce the studio version last week, stating, “We know that you were waiting for this.”
The track presents frontman Matt Thomson in a state of self-reflection and disappointment, inspired by the band’s time spent at the Jumbo Clown room in Hollywood, reminiscent of the old works by David Lynch and Charles Bukowski.
During the creation of the melody, the group turned the concept into a metaphor for the habits and routines that can trap individuals.
“We were intrigued by those who frequented the bar at night, becoming part of the essence of the place, feeling stuck and unable to break free,” Thomson explained.

“It’s easy to judge, but we all have our habits, some more visible than others. It’s only when we attempt to break free that we realize how much they hold us back.”

During an interview with NME in November last year, frontman Thomson affirmed that the Amazons “truly supported themselves” with the upcoming “21st Century Fiction.” “Supporting oneself at 30 in 2024 means believing in my creative values,” he explained.
The vocalist also referred to the previous single “Living A Lie” as a “turning point” for the band. “The song that emerged from that experience genuinely resonated with how I felt during that time,” Thomson remarked.
In another part of the conversation, he reflected on collaborating with Royal Blood on “My Blood” and stated that the album’s concept was “almost a challenge” for the group, who were “bold” in their approach.
“This is the name — let’s create an album worthy of the courage and provocative nature of the sound,” Thomson mentioned about the continuation after 2022’s “How do I find out if they will find me paradise?”
Next month, The Amazons will perform at Live At Leeds: In The Park, where headliners Bloc Party are set to present their debut album “Silent Alarm” in its entirety to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
