Reflections on Youth and Friendship

“This is such a significant moment for our community,” she shared about collaborating with Simple Plan, reminiscing about their early encounters. “We were just young kids from small towns in Canada, launching our first albums. We clicked immediately and became friends.”

Regarding how their new track came to be, Lavigne noted: “A few months ago, I called them, and we got together in the studio to write ‘Young and Stupid.’ We aimed to capture that special phase in our lives when everything was fresh, and we were chasing our dreams.

“This song is dedicated to our fans. It’s a tribute to our past while also celebrating our present.”

Simple Plan expressed their excitement about releasing the song with their good friend Avril, stating: “After years of touring and hanging out together, recording this track was an amazing experience. She is incredibly talented, and we are truly grateful that she invited us to be a part of this project and help bring the song to life.”

They added, “So many of our fans have been requesting this collaboration for a long time, and we sincerely hope they enjoy ‘Young and Stupid’ as much as we do. We can’t wait to hit the road again and perform live every night – it’s going to be a blast!”

Nostalgic Lyrics and Upcoming Tours

In the first verse, Lavigne recalls “Living as a rock star” and “Trashin’ hotel rooms” in the early 2000s, while Simple Plan quickly follows with “20 years later,” telling listeners: “For some reason, it feels like nothing has changed.”

A Simple Plan will join Lavigne on select dates for her greatest hits tour in 2025, set to begin on May 18. They are also scheduled to perform at several festivals, including Bonnaroo and When We Were Young. Additionally, Lavigne will make her first appearance at Warped Tour this summer.

Last year, Lavigne delivered a powerful set in Glastonbury 2024 as part of her greatest hits. The show received a three-star review from NME, which described her performance as “Brand Nostalgia Festival,” praising her continued power two decades later.

In other news, Lavigne recently collaborated with Billy Idol on a joint track titled “77.” Her latest studio album, “Love Sux,” was released in 2022.

Meanwhile, she has partnered with a skate shop to help restore it following a fire incident.
