Album details and creative inspiration

In this seventh studio album, the frontman James Veck-Gilodi takes creative control, with bassist Ross McDonald from the 1975 appearing throughout the record. Drummer Freddy Hasid, known for working with Lewis Capaldi, contributes to the album, while George Gleu (Keir, Hanniu) co-wrote and co-produced the project with Veck-Gilodi.

The album is set to be released on October 3, and you can pre-order it here.

“Lawn Tennis” offers a glimpse into the album, showcasing Veck-Gilodi’s exploration of the quest for normalcy. The lyrics reflect this introspection: “I will ever understand why I am losing all my friends? / On the perfect lawn, as if no longer in life / and I just I can't pretend.”

Discussing the creative inspiration behind the album, Veck-Gilodi mentioned: “I always wanted to change myself. But I also never owned and accepted my mistakes. I just punished myself, telling myself that I hated myself and eventually learned to cosplay as a completely different person.”

He added, “All I needed was to take the best parts from everything I did and apply them, without trying to completely change who I am in the process. Maybe this is my age or mindset, but I now accept who I am, and I feel like I know how to be a good person.”

In 2023, the frontman chose to set aside work he was doing with his brother Matt, feeling that emotional resonance was lacking with the previous album, ultimately arriving at “We Never Go Out.”
