Daniel’s Insight into K-POP Training
A member of New Jus/NJZ, Daniel, recently shared her experiences with the K-POP training system during a live broadcast on the independent Instagram page.
Life as an Intern in K-POP
The Korean-Australian singer discussed her time as an intern with various K-POP music labels as of March 15, detailing the stringent monitoring and control measures that were enforced.
“When I was an intern, there were times deep down I knew something was wrong, but I forced myself to accept that this was normal and that everything happening to me was typical,” Daniel expressed during the stream.
Addressing the restrictions faced by interns, she added: “You had to leave a message before you could go to the toilet, even during your free time. You were constantly observed while in the training room.”
Daniel also elaborated on dietary limitations, stating: “I remember needing to photograph what I ate before I could actually consume it. I had to send those photos to our manager for approval.”
Despite debuting nearly three years ago, Daniel conveyed ongoing concerns regarding the system. “I often wondered, ‘Why implement such a system that stifles our creativity?’” she remarked. “I’m not sure, but it might stem from industry standards, or perhaps it’s just that the control figures wanted to simplify oversight.”
Legal Disputes and Performances
The group, which has recently rebranded as NJZ, is currently engaged in a legal dispute with its former ADOR label. The initial court hearing resulted in Ador extending its injunction to prevent the group from participating in five entertainment events independently. This month, the group is set to headline at Complexcon Hong Kong, marking their first performance since the restructure.
