The group has hinted at new music for some time, releasing the single “I Will Not Break” through their own label “Third-Party Culture” at the end of last month. This marked their first new release since the studio album “Divisive” in 2022.

Focus on Touring

In a recent interview on The Podcast of Carrie’s Mistress, guitarist Dan Donegan discussed when fans can expect a full album. He mentioned that while they have plenty of new material, their current focus is on their upcoming tour rather than a new recording.

“Our primary focus is this tour for the 25th anniversary celebration of our debut album ‘The The The Dement’. We have a lot of recorded material, especially with our first single. In reality, there haven’t been talks about a release because we’re so focused on the tours,” he explained.

“It’s challenging to think about it while we’re selling out arenas and other venues. We’re just riding this wave, and we haven’t had deep discussions about whether it will come out this year or next. We still need to strategize,” he added.

Source of Inspiration

When asked about what inspired the new music, Donegan shared that they quickly came up with many new ideas influenced by their earlier works. This inspiration came as he revisited several demos from the 90s and aimed to recapture the energy they had during that era.

“Once I was in the studio, I started digging into the old demos I had at home, the old cassettes we created in the 90s. We were experimenting with a lot back then,” said the guitarist.

“I wanted to revisit that free space. I wanted to listen to those improvised tapes and get back to the mindset we had at that time,” he continued. “Even though ‘I Will Not Break’ is a brand new riff, it carries that kind of atmosphere.”

He also mentioned that they’ve written so much new material as a band that frontman David Draiman is “trying to catch up” to write lyrics for all these new songs.
