Craig David’s Dream Collaboration
Craig David has shown keen interest in collaborating with Usher, stating that working with the singer is on his bucket list.
Speaking to BANG Show Business at this year’s Jingle Bell Ball, David revealed that he has been dreaming of collaborating with the “You Make Me Wanna…” artist ever since they freestyled together on a French radio station.
“For me, growing up on Usher, I feel like it would be great… we would create something special,” he explained to the publication (via Music News).

Memorable Freestyle Moments
He continued: “We had a moment at a place called Skyrock on a radio station in Paris and we did a little freestyle on the radio when I was putting out ‘Fill Me In’, ‘7 Days’ and he had ‘You Make Me Wanna…’ and was about to move on to his album “8701”, so that was the moment.
“Everyone was like, ‘You guys need to (do something together).’ You could say we checked that box.”

In other parts of the interview, David shared his best advice for aspiring musicians. “The one thing that really helped me was performing live in front of a crowd. That’s the thing about songwriting – there are so many people who can create music when you’re in your safe place – but when you go out and start performing, it’s like a different world.
“And I feel like that has really served me well. I was a DJ before I became famous with “Born To Do It,” so when I saw the crowd in front of me, I thought, “Ah, I know this.”

He elaborated, “And I feel like that’s one thing I would tell all new and upcoming artists: try to get comfortable with the crowd early on, because if you suddenly have a big hit and they throw you on stage at The Jingle Bell Ball in front of 16,000 people, it can be overwhelming.”
In additional news, David recently teased his next musical “chapter” by sharing a snippet of a country-inspired song on his social media.
The legendary British garage star David hasn’t released new solo music since 2022, when he put out his first Christmas song, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” That same year, he released his eighth studio album, titled 22, which received four stars from NME.
“Craig David could have dangerously made a useless memoir album,” NME remarked in the review. “However, at a time when many British R&B fans are hungry for great music and recognition, (David) is not only satisfying that appetite, but using his platform to praise some stars who are also worth watching.”
Since then, he has featured in former Love Island pop star Wes Nelson’s single “Abracadabra,” which made it into the Top 40 earlier this year.
David has also announced a tour in the UK for next year. It will kick off at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on February 2 and will stop at several venues, including the new Co-Op Arena in Manchester, before wrapping up at the iconic O2 Stadium in London.
