CMAT Unveils Third Album and Releases New Single “Running/Planning,” Critiquing Societal Pressure on Women

Announcement Of New Album

CMAT has revealed her third album titled EURO-StRAN, set for release on August 29 through AWAL Recordings. Alongside this announcement, she debuted a new single 'Run/Planning' and revealed an extensive tour across the UK and Europe.

Album Themes and Personal Journey

The album, recorded in New York with Olya Dikin and CMAT, follows her previous release, Crazymad (2023). The tracks explore themes of economy, identity, and grief, with CMAT describing it as “the most important record that I made for myself.”

Speaking on “Running/Planning,” CMAT explains, “It’s about chasing your own tail to feel good enough to exist. This is an abstract perspective on the societal pressure faced by women, especially regarding relationships: you start dating, you get engaged, you marry, you have children, and so on. Do you know anyone who genuinely enjoys this?”

In discussing the album, CMAT remarks: “EURO-Stran is, in my opinion, the best work I have ever done. I felt that halfway through making this record, I was creating something monumental for myself… predominantly because it drove me slightly insane. I am committed to doing the work I want to do because there is a little Gremlin in my head that tells me to aim for more than what I currently have, a voice that sometimes disrupts my life but is intrinsically correct.”
