Album Features and Legacy
The initial version of the LP appeared alongside Paul McCartney and the legendary Wings Over The World, preceded in the United States by “Listen to what the man said.” In addition, the album features “Letting Go” – a fan favorite in McCartney’s Solo Live Set.
Venus and Mars reached the number one spot in both the USA and Great Britain, selling over four million copies worldwide.
The vinyl edition celebrating the 50th anniversary was cut at half speed using high-resolution transfers of original master tapes from 1975 by Miles Showell at the historic Abbey Road studios in London.
It is presented as a “thorough reproduction of the original British pressing,” complete with a reconstruction of the original “Venus and Mars in order tonight” and the sticker “Comparative sizes of the Sun and planets.”
The upcoming collection comes with two posters featuring photographs by Obri Powell and Sylvia de Swaan, and the iconic cover by HipGnosis has been recreated for the Gatefold sleeve.
Dolby Atmos Experience and Future Releases
In addition to the new physical version, fans will have the opportunity to hear Venus and Mars for the first time in Dolby Atmos via digital streaming platforms, recently mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.
The reissue of Venus and Mars for the 50th anniversary marks the first planned release from Wings in 2025 following the theatrical release of the film One hand claps and its accompanying Live-In-Studio album from 1974 last year.
Wings also announced the 50th anniversary release of their third album from 1973, Band on the Run, set for early 2024.
According to the press release, more festive announcements and promotions from Wings are expected to follow soon.

Meanwhile, the musician expressed concerns that proposed changes to copyright laws could disrupt artistic creativity, a stance supported by Elton John.
