The artist was supposed to perform at the festival on Saturday, June 6, sharing the lineup that day with Sabrina Carpenter, Chaim, Beach House, Radio Television, Wet Legs, and others. Parc Del Fòrum Bash will host performances on other days featuring Charli XCX and Chappell Roan.

Nevertheless, on Friday (May 9), the festival confirmed through its Instagram stories that Clairo would not be appearing this year.

“We are deeply saddened by this news and share the disappointment of fans,” Primavera stated. “We, too, were very much looking forward to welcoming her to Primavera Sound Barcelona.”

They also shared a message from Clairo herself, stating: “Unfortunately, I can’t make it to Primavera this year, and I’m so sad because Primavera is a cult, and returning to the festival was what I was looking forward to the most.”

She continued: “There are some material and technical issues in getting my show in/from Primavera, which forced my hand here. I never want to give my fans anything less than the absolute best set I can provide, and this will not be possible at this time. I am very sorry, and I hope to make it happen sooner rather than later.”

Upcoming Performances

This summer, Clairo is still planning to perform at several festivals, including the Governor’s Ball in New York, BST Hyde Park in London, the Iowa State Fair, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and events in Washington and New York.

She also performed at Coachella last month, where her set was introduced by Bernie Sanders, who praised her campaign and called on her fans to “fight for social justice.”

Meanwhile, last year’s Primavera featured sets from artists such as Pulp, Lana Del Rey, The National, SZA, and Troye Sivan.

In a four-star review of the festival, NME concluded: “After the weekend in the midst, it is easy to understand why Primavera Sound is so loved. There are few issues here, and the main one is several painful clashes that you need to navigate each day, which may simply be part of the experience.”
