New Album Release and Interview Insights
Luke is Iechard and Co. On Friday (May 9), the seventh studio record, released his new album “Never/Thout '” (May 9), which returns to the Indie scene of the mid-2000s.
In a new interview with Contact Music, guitarist Hugh Harris talked about how young groups that grew up listening to them nearly passed him by after one loud meeting.
“Last summer, I had to google Fontaines DC,” Harris said. “I was outside our dressing room, and they came to say hello and respect their respect for the group. I said: ‘Who are they, that is?’”

“Then I said: ‘My God, they are huge!’ It’s nice to have this support on both sides.”
Speaking about the popularity of Kooks among their young peers, Prechard added: “Everyone loves us now. This is wrong! We are so lucky.”
“The fact that I hear a lot about Kooks, perhaps a unique thing for us, is that I always hear the same thing: ‘I used to listen to Kooks in a car with my parents and my younger brother.’ This is always an interpretable thing.
Earlier this year, NME talked with the group about their reviving popularity with the young generation. “I am a musician, so I don’t know how to analyze it,” said Prechard. “You are talking about DNA—we still have a feeling of majority when we play music. We still have. I hope this is simply because we keep fresh, we develop, and we are quite open to new things. We don’t think about it too much, we just try to play with some kind of spirit that really works with people of all ages, in fact.”

This summer they will also return to the UK for performances at Trnsmt and Reading & Leeds 2025.
As for Fontaines, they are preparing to play a huge Belfast show with a knee at the Boucher Road site on August 29, which sold out within half an hour, despite the DUP calls to be thrown.
They were also one of the groups that signed the letter “Heavenly Records” in support of the knee entitled “We are behind the freedom of expression.”
