The Journey of Chubby and The Gang

Formed in London in 2019, Chubby and The Gang was a supergroup comprising Charlie Manning Uuker, Itana Steel, Tom Razor Hardwick, Maegan Brooks Mills, and drummer Drum Makmakhona. They were previously associated with other British punk bands, including Vile Spirit and Gutter Race.

So far, the group has released three studio albums: “Soon Murders” in 2020, “Matta Nuts” in 2021, and their latest release in October 2024, followed by an EP titled “Labor of Love” in 2022.

Although Manning-Uuker initially collaborated with members from various punk groups, Chubby and The Gang ultimately evolved into a solo project. After releasing their festive double holiday album, “Christmas Eide Frame” in 2022, Charlie announced that he would be moving forward without the other band members.

Their debut album “Murder Speed,” released in 2020, was recognized by NME as one of the 20 best debut albums of the year.

In a four-star review of their 2021 album “The Mutt’s Nuts,” Max Pill wrote for NME: “There is no position in the accounting data of the working class; This is what a real thing sounds for. This is a powerful reminder of how ‘Matta Nuts’ expands the boundaries of what Chubby and The Gang seek to achieve, but they are not going to forget where they came from.”
