Chris Voltenholm Announces Muse’s Upcoming Studio Album Plans

Muse is set to begin work on their next album, as bassist Chris Wolstenholme shares insights on their new material slated for 2026.

Current Status of the Band

In a recent interview with Leona Graham on the Leona Graham podcast, Wolstenholme discussed the band’s current situation, noting that they are without a label but are eager to seek out a new record deal before releasing fresh material.

Future Plans and Reflections

“We will (sign on the label), obviously. I think that we will begin to work on the next record pretty soon,” he mentioned. “For the last few albums, we were with Warner; we lasted after each album. We can do the same; we can go with a new label, who knows?”

Wolstenholme reflected on the time gap following their previous album, “The Will of the People,” stating, “When you finish touring an album, and the group takes a bit longer, the gaps between albums become a little more noticeable. I don’t think we can release new albums every two years like we used to.” He added, “But this gives you the opportunity to step back and think about what lies ahead.”

“I think we will start very, very soon, as in the next couple of months,” he continued. “We have several concerts lined up in June. These are the only shows we are doing this year. I don’t imagine us doing anything serious until next year, so I believe that 2026 will see a new album, barring any disasters.”

Since the release of “The Will of the People,” Wolstenholme has taken on a new project in which he leads vocals, while frontman Matt Bellamy welcomes his second child with partner Ella Evans and has been recording an audible version of George Orwell’s 1984.
