The Weeknd Unveils ‘Hurry Tomorrow’ Trailer
The Weeknd has released the first trailer for his psychological thriller Hurry Tomorrow. Check out the clip featuring him alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan below.
Trailer Highlights
In the two-minute video, which debuted today (February 4), the artist, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, portrays a version of himself grappling with insomnia and confronting a mental breakdown.
Tesfaye recently signaled an evolution from his stage name, as suggested in the trailer where a voice states, “Call me a familiar name,” followed by someone in the background shouting, “Abel.”
The Lionsgate film is set to release on May 16. It has been co-written by Tesfaye alongside Trey Edward Shults and Reza Fahim. The cast includes Tesfaye, Ortega, and Keoghan, with additional appearances by Gabbi Barrett and Charlie D’Amelio.

The official synopsis states: “The musician (Tesfaye), suffering from insomnia, becomes entangled in an odyssey with a stranger (Ortega), who begins to unravel the essence of his being.”
Visuals and Upcoming Projects
The Weeknd released his latest studio album, also titled Hurry Tomorrow, on January 31, marking the conclusion of a trilogy that began with 2020’s After Hours and continued with 2022’s Dawn FM. This film is described as an “extension” of the album.
In a four-star review, NME commented: “If this is a swan song for The Weeknd, it is fitting. Tesfaye moves forward before he exhausts the collective fascination with his alter-ego, which is no small feat. When he sings, ‘I would prefer to leave a little legacy’ on ‘Abyss’, it’s evident there’s more to be uncovered.”
On Sunday (February 2), Tesfaye made a surprise appearance at the Grammys to perform his new single “Cry for Me,” the end of his boycott that began in 2021.
The artist has a series of live dates lined up for the summer, including a stadium tour across North America from May to September. Special guests Playboi Carti and Mike Dean will join him, and you can find tickets here.
