Details About the Upcoming Album

This is the latest preview of their forthcoming sixth studio album “Koko,” which also features collaborations with Frank Turner, Shed Seven, and Referend & The Makers. “Koko” is set to be released this Friday (March 21) after being postponed by a month due to production tasks.

“Ragdoll” was penned by Tom Rilance, the band’s frontman, along with bassist Katie Lloyd, who takes lead vocals on the track. Kroeger contributed his vocals during last year’s Nickelback UK and EU Arena Tour, where the Manchester Band served as the support act.

The song, built around an emotional acoustic guitar, delves into a toxic but irresistible romance. Lloyd explains, “We’re discussing one of those relationships that we haven’t been suited for but find it difficult to walk away from.”

Surreal Collaboration and Music Video Release

Commenting on working with the rock icon, she added, “It’s surreal, having grown up listening to Nickelback. I performed in full arenas last year and now I’m singing a duet with Chad Kroeger!”

Kroeger shared his thoughts on the collaboration, stating, “After I heard the demo, the melody was stuck in my head for days.”

The music video for the track is expected to drop tonight at 19:00 GMT (March 19), which Lloyd described as “the most ambitious yet.” She noted, “We had to design a complete doll-themed set, and working with Chad in Canada pushed our creativity during the shoot!”

Speaking to NME in December, Tom Rilance revealed how the collaboration came about: “We supported Nickelback on their tour.”

“Koko” follows their first number-one album in the UK, “Therapy for Oblast Anxiety,” released in 2023. The title was inspired by the motto “Keep on keeping on,” which Rilance described as a message about self-reflection and independence that influenced the songwriting process.
