Returning to Roots After Tiny Tina’s Wonderland

Borderland 4 marks the fourth primary entry in the beloved shooter-looter series, succeeding 2019’s Borderland 3 and 2022’s Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. This new installment appears to embrace a more grounded approach, moving away from the fantasy elements featured in Wonderland.

The release of the new trailer comes on the heels of the live-action Borderland film, which received unfavorable reviews upon its earlier release this year. The film earned a two-star rating from NME, with James Mottram noting: “As the film approaches its final third, there is little emotional support to sustain you. Just one yawn-worthy twist and some lame CGI. Avoid.”

As for Fontaines, D.C., “Starburst” was recognized as NME‘s third best song of 2024. Andrew Trendell commented: “Inspired by co-frontman Grian Chatten’s panic attacks, ‘Starburster’ is a disorienting fever dream of absurd imagery punctuated by deep sighs of anxiety – a bright green menacing underbelly under ‘Brat’ ‘summer’.”

The track is featured on their acclaimed fourth album “Romance,” which was voted the second-best album of the year by NME. Rhian Daly praised the record, stating: “Fontaines DC’s fourth album was stunning, not only in this philosophical quest but also in continuing the band’s vast evolution. Infused with apocalyptic horror, it blends noir cinematography, grunge, shoegaze, and energetic hip-hop beats, demonstrating an unparalleled level of ambition and sheer brilliance that we have come to expect from them.”
