Miki Berenyi Trio’s New Release
Miki Berenyi Trio, a fresh project led by the former frontwoman of Lush, has made a comeback with their new single “Big I Am” – take a listen below.
The trio, featuring KJ ‘Moose’ McCillop and Oliver Cherer, is gearing up for the release of their debut Tripla album on April 4 through Bella Union, having already shared their track “Dizziness” and “8th Deadly Sin.”
Exploring Themes in Their Latest Track
Their latest teaser, “Big I AME,” is a dreamy, slightly psychedelic song that critiques toxic masculinity and the damaging impact of influential figures on social media, such as Andrew Tate.

Reflections on Inspiration and Past Experiences
Discussing the inspiration behind the song, Berenyi remarked: “I have observed over 50 years of trends in masculinity, and frankly, nothing notable – as always, there are good men, terrible ones, and boys who might be misguided, but easy adults in the best of their gender. However, this is the ultimate embodiment of ‘Victory’ – this regressive and infantile new minimum is absurd.”
Recently, Berenyi reflected on the challenges of her past relationship with singer/guitarist Emma Anderson after their reunion concerts in 2016, acknowledging that it led to some loss. “Sometimes it was great. Sometimes it could be awful,” she noted. “I didn’t write about it in my book, as I didn’t want it to resemble Morrissey’s autobiography, filled with tedious details of court matters. But humility occurred, and honestly, it still hurts.”
In 2018, Berenyi founded a supergroup called Piroshka with Elastica’s Justin Welch, Moose KJ McCillop, and Modern English’s Michael Conroy. Their debut album “Brickbat” was released in early 2019 via Bella Union.
Additionally, she released her memoir, Crossing the Fingers: How Music Saved Me from Success, in 2022, where she delves into her tumultuous childhood and experiences in the music scene of the 90s.
