MJ Lenderman delighted fans with a surprise performance at the grand opening of the new 101 nightclub in New York City on New Year’s Eve. Check out the footage below.

History of the Venue

The nightclub, named after its address at 101 Avenue A, has taken the place of the legendary Pyramid Club, which permanently closed in 2021 during the COVID pandemic. Opened in 1981, the Pyramid Club once hosted performances from icons such as Madonna, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Nirvana. It was also a key stage for LGBTQIA+ legends like RuPaul in New York.

Nighclub 101, backed by the team behind Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right, kicked off the new year with its inaugural show titled “New Year’s Rock Eve.” Initially announced as Water From Your Eyes “+ all Our friends live and DJ (TBA),” the set later confirmed Lenderman along with Voyeur, Amiture, and Toast.

Lenderman’s performance featured a variety of covers, including Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” George Strait’s “Amarillo By Morning,” Neil Young’s “Lotta Love,” and America’s “Sister Golden Hair.” Check out the footage below.
