Charlie XCX’s “MockMentary”: The Filming Begins as More Actors Join the Cast

Filming began in London on the upcoming new film A24 Charli XCX Moment.

This development follows the addition of four more actors to the project, including Rish Shah, known for his role in Mr. Marvel, Isaac Cole Powell from the HBO series Armando Yannucci Franchise, Kate Berlant, who starred alongside Nicholas Cage in the 2023 film Dream Script, and Jamie Demetriu, celebrated for his role in Stat Gives Apartments. This information was shared by Film Updates.

The new cast joins previously announced stars Alexander Skarsgard (Subsequence), Rosanna Arquette, and Tryu Mallen (Blinks Twice). The casting site Behind the Scenes also recently posted calls for actors for three supporting roles in Moment.

The film is based on an original concept centered around “Brat” pop stars, although specifics are currently under wraps. Charli will not only star in the project but will also serve as co-producer through her production company, Studio365.

Director and Plot Insights

Her long-time collaborator will manage the script. Aidan Zamiri, a Scottish director, is set to make his feature directorial debut with this film. The release date remains undisclosed.

While plot details are closely guarded, Deadline previously described the film as “Higher Focus,” which “follows the life of pop stars on the eve of their first major round in the arena. Moment also provides a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the music industry and examines how subcultures transform into commercial success.”

In December of last year, it was announced that Charli XCX would be cast in Gallerest alongside Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman, Da’Vin Joy Randolph, Sterling K. Brown, Zach Galifianakis, Daniel Brühl, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The singer currently has several acting projects in the pipeline, including Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Floor and a graphic novel adaptation 100 Nights of the Hero, featuring Emma Corrin (Deadpool and Wolverine) and Mike Monroe (Longlegs).
