Charli XCX’s 2023 Manifesto
Charli XCX unveiled her 2023 “Brat” manifesto, which ultimately led to her anticipated 2024 album.
Details of the “Brother Summer” Campaign
In a post on her personal Instagram account published yesterday (December 29), Charli shared screenshots of a document outlining her plans for this year’s “Brother Summer,” including directives for album art, musical style, and promotional strategies.
The manifesto was crafted and directed to her label Atlantic, a part of the Warner Music Group.
On the now-iconic bright green cover featuring oversized “Brat” text, she noted: “The cover of ‘Brat’ will be disgusting, arrogant, and bold. Some people will dislike it. It will be largely text-based: either typography on a simple background, some artwork on a wall, or an overlooked object.”
Concerning the album’s sonic direction and marketing approach, she stated: “What I do has no explanation. The response is always ‘no comment.’ We need to nurture desire, chaos, and destruction. The entire promotional campaign for the album is high art.”
The manifesto also outlines her initial plans to host a “rave” leading up to the album’s release, culminating in Boiler Room’s February “PARTYGIRL” set, finishing with the line, “The angels are ready and waiting. This is the moment.” Check out the screenshots from the post shared by the Twitter/X Pop Crave account below.

Charlie previously discussed the “Brother” manifesto in an interview with Zane Lowe last October. “I basically expressed everything I should have said when I recorded (2016 EP) ‘Vroom Vroom,’ but I probably didn’t need to state it so assertively,” she shared with Lowe.
The release of Brat, her sixth studio album, marked an unprecedented rise in the pop singer’s acclaim, leading to successful tours, including a joint venture with Troye Sivan.
In November, Charlie took on dual roles as performer and host on Saturday Night Live, where she not only showcased tracks from her latest album but also garnered praise for her comedic timing and performance skills, notably after impersonating Adele in a skit.
Additionally, Charli received another Grammy nomination for Best Recording Package, bringing her total to eight for the upcoming year’s event, including Record of the Year for “360” and Album of the Year for the groundbreaking album “Brat.”
Looking ahead, Charlie is set for a busy touring schedule in 2025. She has already been confirmed as Parklife’s first headliner next year, and the “360” artist will also grace London’s LIDO festival with a remarkable performance.
Furthermore, she is scheduled to perform two outdoor shows in Belfast and Dublin, take the stage at Coachella 2025, and has also announced a US tour for April and May. You can purchase the remaining tickets here.
She is also set to appear in future films Gallery Owner and Sacrifice. Most recently, Charli disclosed her long-rumored Letterboxd account to fans and shared her insights on the films released this year.
