Collaboration Possibilities
Charlie XCX has expressed her desire to create an album with Clairo.
Exciting Live Performance
Following their live collaboration on “Sofia” at the Melbourne edition of the Laneway Festival 2025 last Friday (February 14), Charlie shared a video on Instagram, posted by a fan site, where she discussed her appreciation for her team.
She remarked during the speech: “I had a lot of fun doing this, and it made me consider if we could create a record that features guitars, strings, or perhaps a mix of both. Maybe in the style of Lou Reed, I don’t know, just throwing it out there.”
“Sofia” can be found on Clairo’s debut studio album “Immunity,” released in 2019. Clairo also features on Charlie’s track from 2019 and had a collaboration in February 2017 with Yaeji.
In a five-star LP review, NME called “Sofia” “one of the most contagious and lively songs on the album,” which “bounces on stacked-staccato strumming and shock strokes by Daniel Chaim.”
The track stands in contrast to the highly successful dance album released in 2024, titled “Brat,” suggesting a significant stylistic departure from her recent material.
Comments from the producers of pop stars recently indicated that their upcoming projects are leaning towards being an “anti-Brat.”
“Now, in collaboration with Charlie, there’s a desire to explore something entirely different, which aligns perfectly with her creative spirit. Discussions we’ve had and the music we’ve played over the past few months have been completely contrary,” noted producer Finn Kin.
“I love this spirit. It’s an iconoclastic impulse to reveal a completely different side, showing that you can truly demonstrate other aspects of your talent.”
Additionally, Charlie secured three Grammy Awards at the beginning of this month for 2025: Best Dance Pop Recording (“Von Litg”), Best Dance/Electronic Album (“Brat”), and Best Recording Package (“Brat”).
She is also gearing up for five nominations at the upcoming Brit Awards 2025, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for “Brat.”
