Earlier this month, Roan teased her new single, encouraging fans to call “620-468-8646” (or “620-Hot Togo”). Those who dialed in found various options to choose from by pressing different numbers on the keypad. Pressing one allowed fans to “order a meeting with a dentist,” two to “get to a lawyer,” three for reporting “plumbing issues,” and so forth.
Following this, she began sharing images of herself dressed in a suit on social media, announcing that fans could pre-order the Semidium vinyl “Lawyer”.
Last night (February 25), Roan introduced the second version of her single “The Giver,” this time featuring a character known simply as “the plumber.” She shared a photo of herself in overalls with a plunger, inviting fans to pre-order the “plumber” from the “Daik” through her website. In her post, she quipped, “Yes. Showing the crack has returned.”
A seven-inch vinyl is set to be delivered on August 18. As per the official description, Side A will feature “The Giver” from the recording, while Side B will showcase a demo titled “Place it in the Morning”—all pre-orders are currently sold out, but there may be more available in the future.
The diver has yet to be officially released, and the single’s launch date remains unannounced. However, fans have already heard this track, as the NME cover star previewed it during an appearance last November.
Discussing the song, producer Dan Nigro mentioned in July of last year that The New York Times described it as a “cheerful track” that reveals vulnerability while showcasing the “new version” of the artist. Further emphasizing this, Uproxx reported that the pop star characterized the track as country-influenced, reflecting how women “do work.”
“It will come out! It will come out; do not worry,” she told Brandy Carlisle at the Grammy Museum. “Writing it was a blast. I had to bring my background to the table since I’m a village girl. So I was like, ‘No, no, no, let me show you how it’s really done in country style.’”
In other news, Chappell Roan made headlines earlier this month when she received the Best New Artist award at the 67th Grammy Awards, using her acceptance speech to call out record labels and share her experiences as a struggling artist.
Furthermore, her hit “Good Luck, Baby!” was recognized as NME‘s Best Song of 2024. The track has become a phenomenal success, featuring an infectious synthesizer as Roan delivers relatable truths to those desperately attempting to suppress their uniqueness.
