Chappell Roan: New Country Song “Diver” Won’t Dethrone Pop Music

Chappell Roan’s New Single

Chappell Roan has announced that her upcoming single “The Giver” will be released on March 13, marking her first project since 2024’s “Good luck, baby!”.

Musical Inspiration and Direction

The song is influenced by Roan’s experiences with country music, although she clarifies that this doesn’t indicate a complete genre transition. “Country music holds a unique space in my heart,” she shares. “It was the backdrop of my mornings on the school bus and surrounded me at bonfires, grocery stores, and karaoke nights.”

When addressing questions about her musical trajectory, Roan states, “Many have asked if this means I’m working on a country album. My response is… Hmm, right now I’m focusing on creating songs that bring me joy. I’m here to add a bit of flair and fun to the classic country vibe.”

In a recent conversation with Apple Music, Roan discussed her country music influences, saying, “I felt compelled to write a country song because it seemed like a fun idea. Growing up in Southeast Missouri, steeped in Christian and country music, I later discovered Lady Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ and thought, ‘I think I like this too.’ So, country remains close to my heart.”

Roan cites “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” by Big & Rich as a significant inspiration, expressing, “I said to myself, ‘I want to feel something on stage. I want that energy.’ I create with the question, ‘How do I want to walk on stage and perform?’ This song will be my version of that feeling.”
