Chappell Roan Believes Her Youngest Child May Not Recognize the Person She Is Today

Chappell Roan’s Personal Journey

Chappell Roan expressed her doubts about whether her youngest self can “register” the person she has become. In a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the singer—who is “hot to go”—discussed various topics, including her personal growth.

In an exclusive video received from Katya Stone, Roan, whose real name is Kayly Rose Amstutz, elaborated on her transformation and how her younger self feels about her now. She stated, “I don’t even know if my young self can register with me as part of me. Here’s how it was removed… I was so, so, so the opposite of what I am now. It just hasn’t woken up.”

Chappell Roan continued to reflect on her personal development and newfound comfort with her sexuality. She mentioned, “Young Kayley just felt so limited because I was a problematic child—so angry and so depressed, and I felt that no one understood me.”

Shortly after the episode, the singer released her latest single, “The Giver,” on March 14. This track marked her return to music following the success of her previous single, “Good Luck, Baby!” which gained acclaim from NME. She has been teasing this new song for a while and even debuted it during her appearance on Saturday Night Live last November.

In a four-star review of her acclaimed debut album, “The Uprising and Fall of the Princess of the Middle West,” NME stated, “These sharp pops shine brighter than some of the weaker ballads… ‘The Rise and Fall of the Princess of the Middle West’ is the oily and impudent pen of Roan, where she places burning revelations with some huge daring charms.”

In other news, Roan performed the duet “Pink Pony Club” with Elton John at his Oscar party. She also recently dedicated her Brit award to “trans artists, drag queens, students, sex workers, and Sinead O’Connor.” Before that, she made headlines after using her Best New Artist acceptance speech at the 67th Grammy Awards to address record labels and share her past experiences as a struggling artist.
