Celebrating the Debut Album

To mark the release of his eagerly awaited debut last Friday, the rapper joined Plaqueboymax’s live stream for an “on-the-booth” studio session.

Before kicking off the recording, Max introduced the iconic red British telephone box as C’s “Custom Booth”. Accompanied by a dreamy and emotional instrumental, the Shepherd rapper contemplated his past life “Catching” and drug sales: “You can do 10 you from a random city, in the house of Kresna / But I’m not too proud, but everything happened for a reason.”

He additionally voiced his wishes for peace and to surpass past conflicts, controversially stating: “I'll keep it in the present, fuck the drill/I can't wait 'til the beef is gone and they come around/till, we'll still be standing on our own ground.”

Highlights from the stream included Sench getting a boy tattoo, known for the logo in Skepta's “Grim Legend” lady, and rap journalist DJ Akademiks recording a short message for the 24-hour intro: “This boy got my N**** bars and that's a n**** fact.”

“Can’t Rush for Greatness” is currently available via Cench CC4L and Columbia Records, featuring verses from Skepta, Lil Durk, Young Miko, Dave, Kamala, and 21 Savage. He announced the project last October and launched his own CRG Radio show on Apple Music 1 to promote it, interviewing British rap icons like Headie One and Blade Brown.

In a glowing four-star review, NME wrote: “Yes, some fools should have been left off the album, but it's still worth the wait. Central Cee could easily remain hidden behind his trademark mysticism, but instead tells the story of how a boy became a man once on the world stage. There's no smoke and mirrors, the album authentically scores every step of the way.”
