Catch the Reunion of Soundgarden’s Surviving Members at a Seattle Benefit Concert

Members Reunite for a Benefit Show

The surviving members of Soundgarden reunited as the Nudedragons for a benefit concert in Seattle – watch video of the performance below.

Members Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepard came together for a performance at the Showbox in Seattle on December 14th. The band’s name, Nudedragons, is an anagram of Soundgarden and was also used in 2010 when they reunited to play their first album show since 1997.

Supporting a Worthy Cause

Members of the Nudedragons were joined by singer Shayna Shepherd for the 13th annual SMooCH concert, which benefits the Seattle Children’s Hospital Uncompensated Care Fund. They were also accompanied by Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan for the final two songs.

Nudedragons and Shayna Shepherd opened the show with four Soundgarden tracks: “Hunted Down,” “Outshined,” “Flower,” and “Beyond The Wheel.” For the final two songs, they welcomed McKagan to cover Soundgarden’s “Kickstand” and closed the nearly 30-minute set with a rendition of MC5’s “Kick Out The Jams.”

Check out fan footage of the full Soundgarden/Nudedragons performance below.

The Soundgarden (Nudedragons) setlist included:

“Haunted” with Shayna Shepherd
“Eclipse” with Shayna Shepherd
“Flower” with Shayna Shepherd
“Behind the Wheel” with Shayna Shepherd
“Kickstand” with Shayna Shepherd and Duff McKagan
“Kick Out The Jams” (MC5 cover) with Shayna Shepherd and Duff McKagan

On the show website, the band’s performance was described as a “brief encore.” The three surviving members have performed together only twice since the passing of frontman Chris Cornell in 2017. They appeared together during a Cornell tribute show in 2019 and again in 2021 when they collaborated with Brandi Carlile.

In 2021, the estate of Chris Cornell released “No One Sings Like You Anymore: Volume One,” a collection of cover songs curated by the late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman to honor the artists and songs that inspired him. At that time, Vicki reported that there was still an abundance of music in the vault and a second volume was planned for release.
